Discuss the following questions in your group (Interactive activity):
What does Jesus Christ promise to those who love him? He promised them eternal life (p.2)
Does Jesus Christ promise us happiness in this life? He promised us happiness by restoring the full beauty and majesty of our dignity as creatures made in God’s image. We are truly happy when we live up to that dignity (pp. 2-3)
In what words did Christ tell us how to attain happiness in this life? In the Sermon on the Mount: Mt 5:3-10, the Beatitudes (pp. 3-4)
How is it possible for us to live according to these high standards set by Christ?
By trying to follow His example, Jn 15:5 (p. 4) We cannot do it without Him. We also need the help of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:14. John 14:14-17 "If in my name you ask me for anything, I will do it. / If you love me, you will keep my commandments. / And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another ADVOCATE, to be with you forever. / This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, because he abides with you, and he will be in you."
